It’s Almost Fall…

We’ve been busy at the shop the past few weeks with the arrival of lots of new yarns and patterns for the fall.

We received a HUGE shipment from Rowan. Cashsoft DK, Felted Tweed, Pure Wool Aran, Rowan Tweed, and Kid Silk Haze are now in the store. We also have new Rowan and Lopi pattern books.

We received a large shipment from Classic Elite this week. We have plenty of colors of Portland Tweed and Ariosa, and we have brought in Liberty Wool, a worsted weight superwash wool in both solids and prints.

We have MadelineTosh Sport and MadelineTosh Pashmina! We love MadelineTosh yarns and are so excited to have them here. There are so many beautiful colors; we had a hard time deciding what to bring to the shop. You need to stop in and check them out before they’re sold out.

We also have so many lovely new patterns. Books from Ysolda Teague, Stephen West, and Gudrun Johnston are available in the store, along with individual patterns from Laura Chau.

We’re planning the fall classes. There are some great classes coming your way. Stay tuned….

Double Knit Scarf
Monday, August 1, 8 & 15 – 6-8 pm

Cost: $35
Come in and learn the new trend of double knitting. You will be knitting the front and back at the same time.

Volna Scarf
Saturday, August 13, 27 & September 10 – 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

Cost: $45, includes pattern
A simple, light and airy lace scarf or stole that uses short rows to create a flowing wave effect in the fabric. Pattern includes three size choices.

Chesapeake Bag
Session 1: Saturday, August 13 & 27 – 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Session 2: Monday, August 22 & 29 – 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Cost: $40
This is a Fair Isle bag class that will keep you entertained. You will use multiple colors of Chesapeake (a wool/cotton blend) and make a cute bag. The class teaches two-handed color work knitting.

Leaf Lace Shawl

Kelly brought in her finished shawl to show it off.

This is her first shawl! The pattern is Fiber Trends Leaf Lace Shawl, and she knit the shawl with RYC Cashsoft DK. She’s now addicted to knitting shawls. You can see just a peek of her next shawl on the counter.

If you would like to knit a shawl but are hesitant to use lace or fingering weight yarn, this project shows that you can still get a beautiful project with a heavier weight of yarn. Stop in and let us show you what you can do!

Exciting Things Are Happening!

Exciting things are happening here at Lambikin’s! Just in case you haven’t heard the news, the shop has been sold. The new owner, Nora, is here everyday working hard to make Lambikin’s the best yarn store around.

We recently received yarn from Malabrigo and Pagewood Farm. Malabrigo Sock is a shop favorite, and we’re so happy that it’s back.

The Malabrigo Sock is going fast!

We brought back the Pagewood Farm Denali (75% superwash merino/25% nylon) and added Pagewood Farm Yukon (70% superwash merino/20% bamboo/10% nylon). The bamboo in the Yukon gives the yarn a beautiful sheen.

All of our new fingering weight yarns are perfect for your sock or shawl projects.

We’ve also brought in a new line of knitting needles. You may be familiar with KnitPicks needles. We now have them in our shop! We have Harmony straights and double points. We also have Harmony and nickel-plated circulars, and we have the interchangeable tips and cables.

We’re almost finished with the newsletter and are putting the finishing touches on the summer classes. Keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for your newsletter and the new summer class list. New Owner

Welcome to Lambikin’s Hideaway!!! I am Nora Mollmann and am the new owner. I have been knitting for more years than I can remember. I am married and have three grown children. I have one married son who lives in Connecticut with his wife. I have one son who is getting married next year to a local nursing student. My youngest daughter is a student at St. Louis University. I live in Colerain Township with my husband Dan, a GE engineer. I look forward to continuing the wonderful traditions of Lambikin’s Hideaway and starting some new traditions. Stop by and meet me and say hi to some of your favorite employees: Cathy, Donna, Mindy, Betty and Leslie will all be here to help you make your yarn purchases.

We will be working together to order new yarn that will be arriving all summer long. Our big news is the arrival this week of KnitPick needles.

The new summer hours are: Sunday 12-5; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 11 – 5 and Saturdays 10-5. Closed Wednesday.

Important Shop Announcement

It is with great pleasure, that I am able to announce that Lambikin’s Hideaway has found a new owner – Nora Mollmann. Nora has been a long-time customer and I am confident she will continue, and even expand upon, the great customer service and diverse product selection that our customers have come to expect from Lambikin’s.

The shop will be closed from April 22-30 for vacation and a transition period so Nora can get settled. We will reopen on Sunday, May 1 with new Sunday hours of 12-5. Please come in and meet Nora, knit, and of course shop! Be on the lookout for additional new store hours to be announced soon.

It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have served the knitting community of greater Cincinnati for over 8 years. I look forward to making it to the shop as a customer to knit and catch up with the many friends I have made over the past 8 years.
