Lambikin's Happenings Newsletter - Winter 2004

Hopefully everyone had a wonderful holiday season! I have seen many wonderful gifts being made for spouses, friends, and family. Hopefully they all know how much care and work was put into their gifts. Now that the holidays have passed, what projects do you have planned for these cold winter days? If you are tentative about starting something you have never done before, we are offering a wide range of classes from finishing techniques to sweaters, socks, and beginning knitting.

It's hard to believe we have been open over a year now. Looking around the store, it is amazing how much we have grown. I can't help but feeling how truly blessed we are to have such wonderful customers. You have made this first year such a overwhelming success. It has been more fun and rewarding than we could have ever imagined. We are looking forward to our continued growth in 2004 as we add more styles, colors and companies.

Don't be surprised if you see new shelf space and some rearranging in the coming weeks. We have already run out of room, and with new styles and colors coming in constantly, we need the extra room.

For those that use the Internet, we have started a new web log, or blog, in an effort to make sure everyone is kept up-to-date with new products, sales, closings, etc. We quickly realized too much was happening to summarize it every 3-4 months in our newsletter. Our new site, Yarn & Knitting Blog, will hopefully become a repository for happenings at our store. While it will probably not be updated daily, I plan on writing entries at least a couple times a week. Please let us know if you are finding it useful, or would like to see different information posted. Our “official” web site will still be kept as up-to-date as possible.

New Arrivals for Winter

On Line Linie
We are now carrying three lines of the On Line Linie collection: Allegro, Punta, and Spot. Allegro can create beautiful mosaic-like designs. Punta is a combination of a multi-colored bouclé and fur. Spot is a soft new yarn that has subtle metallic eyelashes.

Lana Gatto
From Lana Gatto, we are currently carrying 2 lines: Amsterdam and Dawson. Amsterdam is very soft and has silky eyelashes. We are carrying all the colors available. Dawson is incredibly soft and at 164 yards, one skein is more than enough for a scarf. We have both of these yarns knitted up into scarves.

Filtes King
Imported by Needful Yarns, we are now carrying 3 new novelty yarns by Filtes King: Katrina, Ker, and Lamé. Katrina makes a great base for scarves. It has a multi-colored center with soft lashes. Ker is a great eyelash yarn that has a heavy core with fine lashes, and is a very soft. Lamé is great for adding body to scarves or hats. It is 91% Merino Wool with Metallic, which adds a subtle glitter to any project.

Kertzer
From the company that brought you the popular Fizz and Multi-Fizz, we have added three additional lines from Kertzer: Kitty, Persia, and Ranee. Kitty is similar to Eros as it is a ladder and rung yarn. Persia is a textured ladder yarn. Persia is truly a unique yarn. It really needs to be seen! Ranee looks like Eros or Kitty, but instead of knitting like a ladder, it works up like a bouclé yarn.

Coming Soon

Trendsetter Yarns
Trendsetter has a wonderful selection of novelty yarns and we didn't want anyone to miss out on their fun and beautiful yarn. We are expecting our first shipment to be arriving in late January. We have plans to start off with 4 different lines. More will be added if everyone likes the styles we get. This also means if you have your heart set on a line we don’t initially carry, we will be more than happy to place a special order.

Hand-painted Opal Sock Yarn
We have placed an order for the brand new hand-painted Opal sock yarn. We expect to have all available colors in the store in the next couple weeks.

Customer Favorites

Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool
This is an exciting new yarn from Swedish designer Elsebeth Lavold. It contains 65% Wool and 35% Silk. With 192 yards and costing only $7.10 per skein, Silky Wool is an incredible value. All colors are in stock, including the 6 new colors just added! We also carry the Elsebeth Lavold Designer's Choice pattern book.

On Line Linie Punta
Linie Punta is one of our most popular novelty yarns. It has an amazing combination of boucle & fur. Punta makes a perfect scarf by itself, or carried with another yarn. You can also use it as an accent to jazz up sweaters, hats or mittens!!

Plymouth Eros
Eros is a ribbon "ladder and rung" square eyelash yarn. You can mix this novelty yarn with something more conservative, or carry Eros with another novelty yarn to create some truly wonderful scarves. We love the way Eros knits up with On Line Linie Spot. We have a sample shawl with Eros and Spot knitted together, with Eros as the fringe.
