Lambikin's Happenings Newsletter - Fall 2005

We have some very exciting news about a new yarn for fall, but rather than have it buried inside the New Arrivals, I want to make sure to call it out separately. Very soon we will be selling our own brand of yarn! Our first line will be called Passion. It is a 100% Silk yarn. The weight is close to worsted and will available in 20 beautiful colors. While we are still sorting out yardage and pricing, we are confident we have the best deal on 100% Silk yarn in the entire country! We expect our first shipment to arrive in mid to late September. Be sure to stop in and see it for yourself!

Online Store
It has been a long time coming, but we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We should have our online store up and running by the middle of September. For our initial launch, we expect to have around 15 different lines of yarn and several brands of needles and patterns. It is our plan to add 1 new yarn each week. Look for an announcement in our Latest News section on our web site when our online store is ready for purchases.

New Arrivals

Karabella Yarns
Karabella represents a major addition to Lambikin's Hideaway for the fall 2005 knitting season. We have brought in several of Karabella’s most popular lines. First is the extremely popular Aurora 8. We have brought in 4 different variations of this 100% Merino wool yarn. Aurora 8, Aurora Bulky, Aurora Melange and Aurora Melange Bulky. Melange is variegated, while Aurora 8 is all solid colors. All together, we have brought in over 40 colors between the different lines.

Also from Karabella, we have added Gossamer, Margrite Bulky, Soft Tweed, and Festival. Gossamer is a Mohair, Nylon and Polyester mix with 222 yards per ball. Gossamer would make a perfect scarf, shawl or shrug. Margrite is an incredibly soft yarn that combines the softness of Extra Fine Merino Wool with Cashmere. It has to be felt in order to appreciate its softness. Soft Tweed comes in many wonderful colors that would be perfect for a men’s sweater. Soft Tweed is 100% Wool and comes in 108 yard balls. Last but not least, we have Festival. It is a fun yarn that has long strips of colorful ribbon coming off a center strand.

Malabrigo
Malabrigo is a brand new yarn that we found out about several months ago. It has taken over 8 weeks to get our order, but it has been well worth the wait. If you have never heard of Malabrigo, it is a hand dyed 100% Merino wool yarn with the subtle variations in color and texture. We were so happy with the feel and colors, we doubled our original order. We are sure you will fall in love with it just as we did.

Lorna's Laces
We wanted to bulk up our sock yarn offering this fall, so the first to be added is Shepherd Sock from Lorna’s Laces. It is made from 75% Superwash Wool and 25% Nylon. Each hank has 215 yards, so you will need two to make a pair of socks. It was very hard to choose colors because all of Lorna’s Laces colorways are breathtaking.

Next from Lorna’s Laces we have a loopy mohair boucle and an angora blend yarn. The mohair is Grace and comes in 120 yard hanks in 5 colorways. We could barely keep Angel in the store even before it hit the shelves! Angel is 70% Angora and 30% Lambswool. It comes in 50 yard hanks and would be a perfect trim or special addition to any knitting project.

Art Yarns
Supermerino is a worsted weight 100% Merino Wool yarn from Art Yarns. It is soft and luscious with a textured twist. It's machine washable, and extremely versatile. Supermerino is great for anything from exotic accessories to baby blankets and is a perfect compliment to Karabella’s Aurora 8.

Cascade
As many of you know, Cascade has become a favorite at Lambikin’s Hideaway. For fall, we are bringing in 3 new lines. First, we have finally added a wonderful worsted weight baby yarn. Cherub is 55% nylon and 45% acrylic and is washable. Cherub would be perfect for a baby sweater or blanket. Next, we added the big brother to Cascade 220, Cascade 109. Cascade 109 is the bulky weight version of 220. It comes in 109 yard hanks and knits to 3 sts / 1" on US 10 1/2 needles. Finally, a yarn that is sure to become a store favorite - Tuscany and Tuscany Grande. Both are 100% wool and come in wonderful colorways. Tuscany Grande is a thick-and-thin while Tuscany is smooth.

GGH
According to GGH, Esprit is their best selling yarn. Now we can see why. Esprit is a wonderfully soft yarn. It has a plush, deep, velour texture made entirely of nylon microfibers. Esprit would be fabulous for blankets as well as sweaters. We are now also completely restocked on GGH Coco and Muench Lucky. We ran out so quickly last year, we made sure to order enough so everyone can enjoy these yarns.

South West Trading Co.
SWTC has created quite a stir with their new yarn Karaoke. It is a 50/50 blend of Soy Silk and Wool. It is feltable and comes in very exciting colorways. The colors fade together to create a subtle striping effect, similar to Noro. We have every intention of keeping Noro around, but Karaoke is a very nice alternative.

The Best of the Rest...
We simply have too many new lines to give them all the attention they deserve. Above are our favorites, but there are several more that we wanted to call everyone's attention to. I’m sure I forgot some, but here are some additional new lines: Misti Alpaca Suri and Silk, Reynolds Harvest Tweed and Smile, Arful Yarns Heavenly, Berroco Suede and Suede Tri-Color, and Lang Jawoll Superwash.
