Lambikin's Happenings Newsletter - Spring/Summer 2005

Spring has arrived and so have all the spring and summer yarns to keep those knitting needles busy throughout the summer. Lightweight ribbons and cotton blends have found their place on our shelves. This is the first year we have made a conserted effort to bring in lots of summer yarns. Mission accomplished. With over 20 new lines and new colors to existing lines, this has been a very successful spring/summer yarn season. In addition to the new yarns, we have brought in tons of new patterns to get you inspired. We hope everyone is as excited as we are about all the new yarn and colors.

Felting is still red hot, even through the summer, and Lambikin’s Hideaway is your source for feltable yarns. Cascade 220, Lopi, Galway and Noro, just to name a few, are all in-stock in hundreds of colors for you to choose from for your felted bag, hat, or fun felted animals. We have lots of new patterns for felted animals, hat, bags and even bird houses. We are offering several felted bag classes if you need a little help getting started on your first felting project.

We are offering several new classes this summer. Come in and get away for a couple hours while learning something new. Remember, our knitting lounge is open late on Monday nights until 8 PM. It’s always a good time with fun conversation and, of course, knitting.

Updated Web Site
We are putting the final touches on a redesign of our web site. The new site will look very similar to the old, but we have reorganized the pages to make it easier to get to the information you are looking for. Our homepage will feature a latest news and new products section. We have also added ton of photos. Almost every yarn now has a photograph to go along with the yardage, gauge and price. You can even size the photos between small, large and none. The new web site will go up on May 1st. Be sure to check it out!

New Arrivals

Artful Yarns
Artful Yarns have quickly become a store favorite. For this spring, we added 2 new lines from Artful. Both are cotton blends and have bright, spring colors. Candy is a variegated yarn that is 64% Cotton, 32% Acrylic, 3% Nylon and 1% Elastic. It has 119 yards for only $7.00. We have a baby hat in the store that was made with less than 1 skein. Pastry is a worsted weight yarn that has small flags. We have a knitted sweater as a demo.

Classic Elite
Classic Elite has two of my favorite yarns for this spring. Flash and Premiere and both wonderful yarns that knit up beautifully and are very easy on the pocketbook. Flash is a 100% Mercerized Cotton DK weight yarn with 93 yards per skein for only $4.00. You can make a sleeveless shell for around $20. Premiere is made from 50% Pima Cotton and 50% Tencel and is incredibly soft. The Tencel adds a wonderful silky feel to it. Premiere is also DK weight and at only $6.00 for 108 yards, it is a great deal.

Colinette
Chrysalis has already become a customer favorite. Everyone who has knitted with it simply loves it. Of course, I don’t have to tell you about Colinette’s breathtaking colorways. Chrysalis is made from 94% Cotton and 6% Polyamide and has 91 yards for $24.95. Most Colinette patterns only call for 6-8 skeins for a long-sleeve top.

GGH
We first brought in GGH and Muench last fall and we couldn’t be happier with the yarns they offer. For spring we brought in 2 lines from GGH. Capri and Capri Color. Both have 99 yards and are made from 48% Cotton, 47% Modal and 5% Nylon. The Cotton and modal fibers are chained together in a summer yarn that knits as aran weight.

Elsebeth Lavold
Cotton Patine is the 3rd line we have brought in from Elsebeth Lavold. It is a 100% Combed Cotton yarn that is a wonderful deal at only $6.00 for 121 yards. Of course, it comes in the beautiful colorways that we have come to expect from Elsebeth Lavold.

Reynolds
From Reynolds we have brought in 2 good basic cotton knitting yarn and two lines with a little more flare. Olé-Olé is a cotton blend, while Saucy is 100% Mercerized Cotton both have similar gauge. We have a sweater demo made from Saucy. Frisky is an incredibly soft 60/40 blend of Cotton and Acrylic. Frisky knits up beautifully into a light summer sweater or scarf. Santana is fun striping yarn with wonderful colorways. You really need to see this yarn to truely appreciate it. We also have a top knitted from Santana so you can see the way it knits up.

Schachenmayr
We have added 3 new lines from the Germany manufacturer, Schachenmayr. Catania is a wonderful fingering weight yarn that is available in over 20 different colors. We have a children’s sweater knitted in multiple colors of Catania. Catania Color is the exact same yarn as Catania, but in fun variegated colorways. We have over 10 colors of Catania Color. Denim is a new yarn for 2005. We have 11 bright, fun colors that knit up to look like denim.

Spring Summer Colors
We have added lots of new colors to our most popular lines. Crystal Palace Splash has 4 new fun spring colors. We also restocked on tons of Colinette, including Giotto, Isis, Tagliatelli, Zanziba. From Ironstone, we have lots of new summer colors in Pizzazz, Showstopper, and Starlight. We also have new colors of On Line Linie Space and City, and Lana Grossa India Ribbon. Finally, we have restocked all the available colors of Joseph Galler organic Inca Cotton.
